Hello from a first time forum user.
up until 5 days ago i had a fairly good through put speed during downloads, around 1.4 mbps.During the course of the last few days it has got slower and slower .it is now unbearably slow.I reported it to bt total broadband help yesterday.The operator did a check and agreed it was very slow, at about 135kbps throughput speed.My IP profile was showing 135 kbps.He said he would request a profile reset.There is no difference yet according to speedtester.bt.com. Am i being impatient, or should it have been improved by now.

have you been having connection problems with the router resetting or have you been resetting the router to try and improve your connection. Your higher than normal noise margin at 14 as normal about 6 is usually because of resets possibly due to noise on your line.
The result of all this is your profile drops to rock bottom 135 and your throughput/download is rubbish.
have you tried the quiet line test - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done witha corded phone
i did do a couple of router reboots before I reported the problem.just wondering how long a profile reset would take to show up on bt speedtester results
if they did in fact order a reset then probably 24hrs. However if the profile has fallen due to connection problems then you will be back to square one in a few days. If the router has been resetting then you need to find the cause so you can get back to a stable line.
did you try thr quiet line test? was it ok?
you need to keep a check on your connection time not just the time your router has been on but the time you have had internet connection. this will show if your router is resetting on it's own.
