i have recieved a voice text message on my landline from BT to say that another customer wants to take over my line in my house it also left an 0800 number to ring before 3rd january is this a valid?
Solved! Go to Solution.
It could be the case, but could be a scam. The only 0800 you should ring, is 0800 800 150, which is BT.
Any other number is likely to be fraudulent, and it could be someone after money or card details.

thanks for the tip just checked with live chat and they confirmed they did not contact me so is definitely a scam
I've called the number and can confirm it is genuine as I was connected to an adviser who I was able to validate as a BT employee.
@joshesplace if you would like us to double check that your service is not being taken over by another customer please use the 'contact the mods' link in my forum profile to send in your details and we'll be happy to help.

have rechecked through live chat and they have comfirmed that the 0800 number is a genuine number but there is nothing to worry about regarding my line
Have you got to the bottom of this issue? I received the same text message (landline voice text) last week and have today received a BT letter stating the same thing (verified as real by a BT person on the phone) however he said although Bt sent the message and letter that there was no action showing on my account to cancel! (then we got cut off and I'm not sure I want to call again tonight, too stressy!).
