Thanks for the tip .. might have to think about it tho as some reviews on Amazon call in to question the stability of its 5Ghz wifi as well as an apparent tendancy to randomly assign DCHP IP addresses .. any other options much appreciated
I'd say that the Asus is about as stable & reliable as any modem/router you'll find on the market.
I use both the 2.4 & 5GHz frequencies without any perceived isses.
Also all my home devices are set as predefined ip addresses with only visitors - family members - picking up ip addresses from DHCP so I've not seen that issue either.

Thanks.. If I go ahead with the Asus.. Can I find an idiot's set up guide somewhere to ensure I get things done properly re Infinity, BTTV and VPN.. 😊
I am sure @TimCurtis will be able to help, if you cannot find the information within this forum.
Try this post https://community.bt.com/t5/Home-setup-Wi-Fi-network/ASUS-DSL-AC68U-Settings/m-p/1873250#M154356
Of course I'll do my best to help.
Just a point about VPN. As a server you've only 2 options which are PPTP - now not supported by Apple 😞 - and OpenVPN. As a client again OpenVPN and PPTP & L2TP to any compatible server I think.
I have a third party router wired to my bt home hub, not a modem router, it's an asus rt-ac87u,.to set it up :-
set up bt hub:-
type into browser 192.168.1.254 to get to the hub homepage.
Advanced settings>ipv4 set up > change ip address to 192.168.2.1.save settings
Change ip start address to 192.168.2.64, Change ip end address to 192.168.2.253. save settings
Turn off wireless. save settings
now configure your router depending on make and model.
connect 3rd party router
in the browser go to the routers web page (example:-192.168.0.1)
set the 3rd party routers ip address to 192.168.1.40. save setting.
disable dhcp server. save setting.
connect the two routers via 1) the wan port on your 3rd party router > ethernet port 1 on bt hub. switch them both on wait for initialisation .it should work .
Fine if you are happy double natting.
I am having zero problems with it .
Yes, we experienced the same issue, the blank screen will not go away, did anyone have a solution, please?
Many thanks
