water leak

can  water leaks ruin BT  networking cables underground?

thames water says they will fix it but its been 3 or 4 months now. and the bt man hole cover is filled with water, all down the street too.

It can do if the cable joints haven't been sealed properly, but on the whole it isn't a problem its quite normal for ducts and joint boxes to be filled with water in wet weather.
