which Infinity 1 or 2

We called BT today to cancel BT Sports and to look at renewing contract, took over 30 minutues to connect...sort of got sorted,  however we have speed issues, the gentlemen very kindly suggested we talk to technical support and put us through, who said

1) we fix virus's and email issues and will charge

2) and apparantly Inifinity2 isnt avaiilable in our area, it hasent been upgraded.

little bit worried we have been paying for this for 18 months!

so after 30 mins of waiting again back to customer service who kept saying inifinity is avialable in our area. but wouldnt commit to infinity 2

so our current speeds and details below, could anyone tell me what are we on from this?

as you can see our upload speed is terrible.

Re: which Infinity 1 or 2

do you have a hh5  if so go to hub manager then troubleshootoing then helpdesk and post 1-12

run btspeedtester and then diagnostic test and post results

Infinity 2 is available to you and from the speedtest result you appear to be on it could you please post the further diagnostics part of the speedtest to confirm the package you are on

Re: which Infinity 1 or 2

infinity 2 is availabel as shown by the dslchecker with speeds in excess of 40mb  the line quality and distance from cab will decide how fast a connection speed you can get

Re: which Infinity 1 or 2

FTTC is just a single product. Infinity2 is capped at 80/20 and Infinity1 is capped at 40/10. The speed you get is entirely dependant on the quality of your line. If you opt for Infinity1 your speed will never exceed 40Mb/s but if you opt for Infinity 2 it will attain the maximum speed your line is capable of up to a maximum of 80Mb/s. The line checker indicates that the highest speed you are likely to attain is about 51Mb/s. Personally, I don't think the difference between 40 and 51 is sufficient to warrant the extra cost of Infinity 2, but it is up to you to decide.

Re: which Infinity 1 or 2

we initially had hh4, however the connection was poor and the wireless coverage wasent very good and needed faster wired connection so we invested ina netgear ac1900 router.

so speedtester doesnt work

Re: which Infinity 1 or 2

then can you post some conenction stats from your netgear

if you are unable to post stats then from your download speed on assumption that is near your profile you probably have a connection speed say 45/46mb.  if that is correct then if it was my conenction I would be on infinity 1 as I don't think the few mb extra download speed is worth the extra cost
