Re: windows 7 Antivirus 2012 012

The malware writers are constantly updating their software to get around the virus scanners.  The virus scanner writers are also constantly updating, but they will inevitably be a few days behind.

This leaves a small window of opportunity in which a new bit of software can be downloaded and run without being picked up.  Once installed, the malware will often attempt to disable the updates of common anti-virus programs to ensure that they never get detected.

As Ectophile says, it is really a catch up process, but always make sure the antivirus prog is always updated and as a user of the Internet allways be aware that if something on a web page says click here and we will cure your headache, it usually means you will get a headache.

Also if you do a google search  for Windows 7 Antivirus 2012, you will possibly find that a lot of the cures there are further problems.

Re: windows 7 Antivirus 2012 012

This problem has been around for a while so there is no excuse for Netprotect to still be letting it through if it is supposed to stop Trojans.

The big problem is that once you have the virus you need a bootable CD to get rid of it and BT do not supply one and I cannot find a link to an image file for download or a makedisk file in the software.

Anyone from BT like to comment or tell us how to get a bootable McAfee CD?
