wireless adapter can't see HH3

Hi. I have a  Dell 1450 wireless adapter that has had no trouble seeing my previous HH2 but is completely unable to see my replacement HH3. Can anyone tell me why? Do I need a new wireless adapter (although it seems to work fine other than with the HH3) or are them some settings on HH3 I need to change?

Thanks!

Re: wireless adapter can't see HH3

Is your new HH3 using the same (copied) SSID from the HH2?

If so, you might find you need to change the SSID and reconnect your devices.

Re: wireless adapter can't see HH3

Do you know that the wireless is working and on? I.e. can other devices see and connect to the hub wirelessly.

Yes - a laptop and blackberry can both see and connect to it

Re: wireless adapter can't see HH3

The forum recently pointed me towards this wifi tool

http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

It's really useful for seeing what Wifi signals are flying around. If you run it on the PC (I assume) with the Del adapter, it should tell you whether the adapter can "see" the network, even if it can't connect.

Re: wireless adapter can't see HH3

I've also found that deleting an adapter from the PC devices, re-booting and creating a new one sorts out a multitude of wifi sins.

If that doesn't work, I'd go back to basics. Make sure you are near the hub (signal might be less on HH3), set a fixed wifi channel, have a coffee for 10 minutes.

That last one fixes quite a few wifi problems.

Many thanks will try your suggestions. Can't understand why HH3 signal would be weaker than HH2, but guess it could be as simple as that!

Re: wireless adapter can't see HH3

ummm. Type of wireless standard? Do you need to drop the wifi from 802.11n to g or b?

Encryption, does the Dell card only support WEP?

Can the Dell card see any other networks locally (not sure if you are in a built up area with plenty of interference and other Wifi nets)
