wireless dongle

i signed up for bt infinity. as part of the order process i was asked if I wanted to add the dual band dongle, as it was recommended for older laptops/pcs.

all connected up today, tried to use the dongle, only to find that its not compatible with windows xp!

so stuck with a useless dongle unless i buy a new laptop or pc. surely a newer windows 7/8 laptop will be compatible with dual band anyway?

Welcome to the forum. New laptops don't necessary support 5GHz wireless - my high-spec Yoga 2 doesn't but I have no issues with the 2.4GHz band anyway. You should be able to return the dongle within 14 days for a refund under the Consumer Contracts Regulations; if so I would put the money towards a Windows upgrade because you're going to get more and more problems sticking with XP.
