We have put together a short survey to capture your feedback in terms of what BT can do when you experience home Wi-Fi issues. We would appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to complete a short survey. Read more from here, Fix my home Wi-Fi
BT's idea of merging the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands into a single seamless offering has a lot going for it. A simple one choice implementation.
So either BT's firmware implementation has some architecture issues or the problems lie with legacy devices that cannot cope with the unified wifi architecture. If the latter then all BT can is sit tight, spin the PR and wait for the problematic legacy devices to be updated or replaced.
When my SH2 router was upgraded everything seemed to be working OK. I could connect between devices connected to 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands.
Just returned home and I'm finding my iPad mini 4 (running iOS 14.4.2) won't stay connected to the wifi.
It struggles to connect. Keeps on saying password is wrong. When eventually connected it drops connection or says no internet connection even though there is! Wifi signal is strong as iPad's physically next to the router!
I know the wifi on the iPad is ok as it connects to my friends TalkTalk router with no issues and stays connected even it low wifi strength.
Firmware version is v0.26.04.04227-BT
After a couple of weeks of the Sonos system and SH2 with new firmware working fine tonight all the problems have reappeared with my Sonos S2 app on apple IPhone 11 Pro not being able to see all the Sonos systems in the house. Turn off 5Ghz again and all works fine. The firmware update has not resolved the issue and it is strange everything was ok for a couple of weeks and I am now back to the problem tonight. I am seriously thinking of going to another provider after many years with BT. Come on BT get this fixed before your loyal customers abandon you enough is enough!!!
There are a few comments on here about problems with items e.g.Sonos speakers, going missing again.
My Sonos App on an iPhone has now started doing the same.
All was working fine until very recently, Apple have just updated IOS to 14.6.
Is it the Apple update or the SH2.
Guess BT will say its Apple and Apple will say its BT leaving lots of customers with a problem.
@NeilO Has the latest SH2 firmware been tested with Apple IOS 14.5.
Further update: as I had some FaceTime calls on the iPad, I turned off the 5Ghz channel. iPad now very stable.
Noticed though, that one speaker (SONOS Move) that can’t use sonosnet continued working on Wi-fi. It’s even listed on the Sonos app. Checked router and the speaker ip address is showing as disconnected on the 2.4Ghz band so clearly something not working correctly.
I got the v0.26.04.04227-BT pushed through overnight but it’s made no difference. I can only connect to my printer & hue sync box if I switch off the 5ghz band
Hi John. Could you please PM me how to upgrade the firmware on my BT Smart Hub 2 router so that I can connect on both bandwidths?
Just to say I have had the new firmware v 0.26.04.04227-BT since the 13th May and still having issues with devices on 5Ghz and 2.4Hhz. You can ping a device on 2.4 Ghz and not see it on 5 Ghz, mainly my Hp deskjet printer
