I don't believe that can possibly be the case, it completely defeats the object of a factory reset. I will see what happens with my hub when I get chance to try it.
As I suspected, BT engineer talking complete tosh, factory reset does exactly what it says on the tin and restores admin and wifi passwords to the factory settings printed on the hub label.
