Re: Advanced Digital Voice phone links to SH2 but not extenders. Thus range is very limited.

I agree you would think this is a logical solution -- but it does not work. Both a BT engineer and I tried this several times to no avail. It seems there is something about the signal from the hub that is incompatible with the PBX -- a Northern Telecom system branded BT in the UK.

That is interesting.

Its probably the signalling system, as the Digital Voice service is  VOIP, and the ATA adapter in the SH2, possibly does not have the full bandwidth available to handle the signalling, as it only intended for voice.

I do remember there were issues with the old Broadband Talk service, in that you could not connect modems to the phone socket on the home  hub 1, as the signals were distorted by the conversion from analogue to digital, and then back to analogue at the distant end.

I suspect that this is why BT Business have moved to a totally VOIP end-to-end solution, using IP phones, with all the advantages they offer.

In the end, VOIP is going to be the only solution, as even if you do get a copper line reconnected, its only going to be short term, owing to the closure of PSTN, so some future planning is going to be needed, as the days of PBXs are coming to an end.

Hi @EDeanButler, welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm sorry to see your PBX system is incompatible with the new digital voice service, unfortunately, this is not something that the moderation team can help you with as it is an FTTP service, we're unable to assist with this service as it's dealt with by a specialist team.

If you give the FTTP team a call on 0800 587 4787 they'll be able to advise you if it's possible to convert the number back to PSTN.
