BT 8600 Line Cord Error

I have a BT8600 Quad telephone system that has worked perfectly until this week where I got a "Line cord error" on all phones. I swapped batteries to no effect.

I was able to get hold of a BT8600 Twin base station.

How can I get 2 of my 8600 hand sets to recognise the Twin base station.

I think yo need to unpair the 2 handset from existing base station and then re- pair them to new base station

I reset 2 of the handsets back to manufactured state and disabled the other two, plugged it all back in and message, cannot find base station comes up,

Is there a difference between the quad system phones and twin system phones that wont allow them to interchange?

How do you unpair the phones?
