BT Home Hub 5 Type A and Gigaclear fibre to house question.

Go to solution

We moved to our rural bungalow just over 2 yrs ago, leaving a BT superfastbb area and back to telephone and download of nearly 5mbps ( on a good day). We kept the Homehub 5.

The village now has gone live on Gigaclear fibre to the property cable, there is NO BT upgrade available so it has to be Gigaclear if we want faster speeds, which we do.

The Gigaclear website states that it will unlikely our present router  (HomeHub)will work on fibre as it is configured to work with copper cable and we have to use their's, a Genexsis.

Is this correct, will the Hub be useless or not ? I am very sceptical when told things like this hence the question as reviews of the Genexis are very mixed !

Thanks

Brian.

Welcome to this user forum.

The home hubs are locked in firmware, to BT Broadband, and will not work with another ISP.
