Re: BT Home cam 100 web portal login

Hi @Travelingman and @Keith_Beddoe,

Can you both check the site for me today please? You may have noticed it working yesterday late afternoon. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

Thanks

@DanielS

It seems to be back now, I guess somebody fixed the DNS entry, did you get any feedback on this?

I do not use the device myself, but was just trying to help @Travelingman

Re: BT Home cam 100 web portal login

Hey @Keith_Beddoe,

I did indeed but it came 9 minutes after I finished for the day as I was heading up to watch Ulster vs Dragons.

The CNAME record was removed and replaced with a TXT record. The person that I spoke with corrected it reinstating the CNAME record and updated the DNS servers Smiley Happy

Thanks

Thank for that, I bet that cause a few complaints from those still using the product. It may be discontinued, but I expect there are still quite a few users.

I bet whoever altered it originally, forgot to save it with the correct file or no extension, as many text editors default to a .txt suffix. Something to watch out for if you ever edit the Windows hosts file, as that has no suffix.

The BT Proxy server you were using, must have been cacheing the original DNS record.

I have tested my connection and it is working again.

Many thanks to all who have worked on this problem.

As posted above if this product has been discontinued what will happen with the web portal in the future?

Hi @Travelingman,

I can't predict what will eventually happen but for now there are no plans to have it removed anytime soon as far as I can tell. This was evident by the fact that the page was fixed when I highlighted it to the product manager and developers who look after it.

Thanks

DanielS
