BT Homespot Boosters

Hi All,

I have a set of the boosters. I have noticed with my phone that it provides literally no wifi when i connect to it. My mum uses it and receives good internet coverage with it.

She has an Iphone and so do i?

I have tried speed tests and it backs this up. Is there anything i can do? Some settings or something?

Thanks in advance.

Jack

Thanks.

Which hotspot units do you have, and which BT home hub are you using them with?

That`s fine. Once I know which ones you have, then I should be able to offer some advice.

Do you mean the BT Hotspot 600 units?

If so, do you have just a single hotspot, or the kit with one main unit and two hotspot units which both transmit the same wireless network name?

Re: BT Homespot Boosters

I have BT Hub 6 with 2 hotspot units which transmit from the same wireless network name!

This is it: BT Mini Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 600 Multi Kit (sorry not sure how to link it to you!)

Hi @Jack1092 , do your homespot and home hub share the same wi-fi name? If so, that's probably why this is happening. When a device sees 2 networks of the same name, it's a little bit random luck which it'll connect to. Devices ought to connect to the stronger signal, but that can't always be guaranteed and is outside of the control of the wi-fi access point.

The way around this with homespots is to change its name to something different than the hub (for example, keep the default "out of the box" name). You can then use your phone settings to manually change to the wi-fi you want to connect to. It's a bit more cumbersome, but you're in control.

Does that address your scenario? If not, please come back and provide more detail so we can help further.
