I want to set a spare bt hub up to extend wireless range but when trying to change default hub gateway address from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.1.255 so not to conflict with my main hub it just sits and waits will never change, how can i do this BT hub 6-
Solved! Go to Solution.
Change it to 192.168.1.253 rather than 255. 255 is a broadcast address
Better still, change to an address outside of the DHCP range of the main hub, i.e 1-62
even changing to1.62 when saving it hangs after clicking are you sure. I then have to reset to access again
Save yourself a lot of stress, and use a proper wireless access point, it will be much more reliable.
would be more reliable if the bt hub could send a wirless signal thhrough my house to be honest
But then BT would not be able to sell you extra things to boost the wireless range
The home hubs are designed to look acceptable in a domestic setting, there has to be some sacrifices when it comes to performance.
yeah i guess so, advertised as the most powerfull wireless signal hey lol
But it gets lost inside a plastic box with no external aerials to propagate the signal.
So I guess next time i drop it, make a better job of it and release it from its plastic box. Old Coat hanger used to work well as an aerial
