BT8600 base unit - three questions

Three questions:

1.  If I buy a replacement main base charging unit for my BT8600, will I have to manually input all my contacts' numbers, or will they somehow upload from the existing handset?     A vain hope, I expect!

2.  If I buy a  replacement additional/secondary base unit, how do I link it to the existing main base unit?

3.  If I buy a replacement handset and register it to an existing main base unit, will my contact numbers automatically show up on the handset?

Re: BT8600 base unit - three questions

from the manual  https://www.bt.com/content/dam/bt/help/legacy-ug/phones/BT8600%20UG.pdf  the contacts are stored on the phones not the base and if you added a new handset to existing setup then contacts would sync with an existing phone

can't think why you want 2 base units connected

Re: BT8600 base unit - three questions

Oh, OK  -  many thanks.

I was going by Google's AI Overview, in response to a search for "BT8600 contacts stored on base or handset?".

The Overview says,  "On a BT8600 phone, contacts are stored on the base station and are automatically synced across all connected handsets, meaning you can access your contacts from any handset you use with the system"

So  -- re all three of my questions, the only thing I would need to do is register a replacement handset to an existing base unit?  Or not even that??

Re: BT8600 base unit - three questions

you need to sync the new handset to the base otherwise it will not work or get contacts

Re: BT8600 base unit - three questions

Further to my previous reply -

Is the Google info wrong?

I know that inputting contact numbers is done on the handset  -  but  can you tell me which page of the manual says where the contacts are stored, please?

It doesn't say specifically, as far as I can see, but maybe I'm missing it.

Re two base units  -  I have a two-handset BT8600, whhich has one main base unit, and an additional charging unit for the second handset.  If I replace the additional charging unit, or buy an extra one, would that not have to be linked somehow to the main unit?

Re: BT8600 base unit - three questions

A charging unit has absolutely no connectivity, it is just a charger.

If you have 2 base units, your handsets will only connect to the base unit it is registered with. You would have 2 completely separate systems.
