Been happily using 5 or 6 BT mini connectors throughout my home for a number of years. Very solid and dependable.
Recently bought 2 additional ones, plumbed them in and it killed the network. On closer inspection the 2 newer ones were stated as BT Mini Connector 'V2'.
The difference is as per the photo below.
Just wanted to know if these really are not compatible or is there a process to get these two to play nicely?
Solved! Go to Solution.
did you try and pair the new connectors with the existing ones and not set up a different pair.
Thanks for the reply.
I simply added one of the V2 plugs into the existing network which then caused the network issues. Once removed, the network came back up again. Should I have tried something different?
Both versions of the Mini Connector are indeed compatible with each other.
It may be worth trying resetting and re-adding the Mini Connector V2 to the network.
If that works for the first of the V2 devices, then repeat the process for the 2nd device.
Darren - you're a legend
Took a few attempts but's all sync'd and working nicely
Appreciate your help
I'm glad you got it all working in the end 😁. Thanks for updating us on the thread.
That said. Reliability of the connection is poor with the V2 plugs periodically dropping to less than 1MB download. Blue data light remains on the plug though.
Should I do another re connection process ?
Are you only seeing the poor connectivity in a new area of your home (where the V2 are installed), or did you have the V1's in that location working without any issues?
If it's a new area in your home, do you know if the mains sockets are on the same internal wiring ring/circuit?
Sorry to hijack this but what are the differences between Versions 1 & 2, specifically, are they both 1gb speed?
thanks for any help.
Both are the same spec/speed, the only difference was a change in the chipset.
They're both perfectly compatible with each other too, so no need to worry about that 😊
