Does HIVE interfere with BT 600 Extenders ?

We have a TalkTalk router in the hall.  Two  BT600 extenders in the lounge... one for PC ... one for TV.  One extender has all 3 lights on.  The other 2 but no data light.

We can get one or the other to have data light but not both at the same time.  After reset one will stay on.  The other comes on and then goes off.

We had two extenders plugged via Etherley cables direct to router to act as 2 pairs but didn't work.  Same when we removed one and linked both extenders in lounge to one.

Had a Hive thermostat fitted last week and wondering if this has created the problem ?

2 x 600 Extenders - only one with data connection?

Re: Does HIVE interfere with BT 600 Extenders ?

No, Hive does not interfere with the BT600's

From your description, it sounds like you have two distinctly separate powerline converter networks connected to your router and that you can't do.

You need to extend your existing network as described in the 'How To Add More Powerline Extenders To Your Original Network' section of the user manual as opposed to adding a second network.

Re: Does HIVE interfere with BT 600 Extenders ?

A quick test would be to power down the hive hub and pull the batteries out from the thermostat. That will eliminate the Hive system and if the extenders work then you have a problem with how Hive interacts with the extenders

However, I concur with @Les-Gibson it shouldn’t interact. Hive uses (I believe) a zigbee Wi-Fi network and your extenders use the wiring in your house.

Re: Does HIVE interfere with BT 600 Extenders ?

Thank you.  Will try to do that.  Did take one of the plug in units away from router cupboard and one in the lounge links with 3 lights and the other only 2 lights, no data.

Will see if we can reset it all and add that one again.

Appreciate the reply

Re: Does HIVE interfere with BT 600 Extenders ?

BT600 user guide, just in case you need it.

4604-Broadband-Extender-600-Kit-QSG-v3.pdf (bt.com)

Quote:

How to add more powerline extenders to your
existing network
You can expand your home network by adding more extenders to your existing kit.
1 Plug your additional broadband extender directly into a wall power socket.
Make sure the socket’s switched on.
2 Press the Link button on that extender for 5 to 8 seconds. Wait for the Power light to
go back to steady green.
3 Press the Link button again, this time for 1 second.
4 Within 2 minutes, press the Link button on one of the broadband extenders already in
your home for 1 second to complete the connection to the network.
5 Wait for connection to complete. If everything’s okay, the Power and Data indicators on
the extender will light up.
Tip
You might find it easier to plug your new broadband extender in the same double power
socket or near one of your existing ones whilst you set things up

End quote
