During the fault-finding process I decided to unplug the hub and move it. When I went to pick the hub up it is surprisingly hot. Not the power supply, but the hub itself. Not hot enough to injure, but hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold for any length of time. Room temperature is currently 26deg/C.
The hub itself is surprisingly hot. It would be too hot for a child to hold for any length of time. I'm used to phone chargers and the like being warm, but the top of this hub is hot rather than warm. Doesn't feel like it is going to catch fire or anything! I'm having continual dropout/reset issues (currently being investigated by BT) and I'm beginning to think that it is the hub itself that is at fault.
