Jack size for SmartHub2.0 power supply

Go to solution

After investigation of a fault with our broadband the engineer ordered us a SmartHub 2.0

The plug supplied does not fit in the location of our power outlet. Clearly someone has decided that all users should use a power outlet that is at skirting board level. Ours is under a shelf on the wall. The bulk of the transformer and the power cable protrude upwards from the outlet... or rather do not fit as we have a shelf in the way.

It seems my alternatives are -

a) get an electrician in to re-wire the house

b) find a replacement power supply.

Due to expense, I'm going with the latter.  I have tried asking this question of BT Technical Support but they are unable to help.

Does anyone have technical details on the jack plug?  (barrel size)

It isn't any of the following: 5.5x2.5mm, 5.5x2.1mm, 4.8x1.7mm, 4.0x1.7mm, 3.5x1.35mm, 3.0x1.0mm, 2.5x0.7mm

Thanks in advance.

@catweazle71

Why not use something like this instead?

Or simply remove the socket faceplate and replace it upside down.

Yeah, I think that's what we're going to have to do.

Or you could use one of these as an adapter instead, cost around £3 - £4
