Mini Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 500 Multi Kit

I have had the above kit for two years and, for the most part, it has worked well.

 

However, every so often - perhaps once a week or so on average - one or other of the hotspots (but not both at the same time) will lose its internet connection even though all the lights are showing steady green. Sometimes it corrects itself after a short while, but sometimes it is neccessary to disconnect and re-connect that hotspot.

 

Does anyone know of any reason for this and whether there is a cure, or are the hotspots faulty, or is it "just one of those things"?

This does sound like 'one of those things' but you might want to try the product support guys who will be able to confirm. You'll get the contact details at Mini Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 500.

There is a firmware update available that improves this problem, see: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/51972/

 

You can access the Hotspot interface by browsing to http://mybtdevice.home

Thank you very much for that pointer. The firmware was, indeed, out of date, so I have now dealt with that and am keeping my fingers crossed.

 

The update was not entirely painless, but we got there in the end after a certain amount of switching off and back on again. It was only then that I realised that the update had changed the SSID and password back to the original, and so that had to be dealt with as well.

 

Anyway, many thanks for your help.
