Re: Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi SGAB208218 Early Adopter Release now

@bigmick777

It may be worth you factory resetting your network if you had issues previously and have updated now.

You can use the new backup and restore feature in the app to save your custom settings.

I would recommend trying with the default settings using the new firmware.

Thanks,

Dan-O

Won't the restore keep my existing settings?  In which case I'm still not sure whether the ones I mentioned should be kept?

Yes, although you can just do the device settings restore which will save you setting up any custom names, groups or access controls again.

You can try without changing any of those settings.

The data usage on the app shows Zero through out all tabs after a day of use.  I dont really use it TBH but thought I'd mention in case anyone needed it.

@Dan-O

Great to see the update.

Is WPA3 only mode (not mixed) possible or would that need a future update?

Thank you.

Hi,

Only WPA3 mixed mode is supported in this update as, but we will continue to review available options in future.

Re: Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi SGAB208218 Early Adopter Release now

Hi @Dan-O,

I upgraded my BT Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi to the SGAB208218 Early Adopter Release yesterday, having previously been advised by BT Helpdesk that this was due to fix the internet connectivity issues that I had been experiencing since last December.  However, I am still finding my internet connection is being dropped regularly by the Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi discs, whereas it’s working fine via my BT Hub 6 Wi-Fi network.  Please note I’ve already done a factory reset and let the network settle/stabilise overnight.

I've raised this with BT Helpdesk and received the following response

Change the channel frequency and compatibility mode:
1. Go to http://mybtdevice.home (if premium discs http://btwhole.home) on a device connected to Whole Home Wi-Fi
2. Log in with the admin password
3. Select the ‘Settings’ tab
4. Try changing the 2.4 GHz channel to 1 or 11 and the 5GHz channel to 36
5. Change the ‘Compatibility Mode’ to Enabled.

If this does not resolve the problem then please follow the instructions below to disable the legacy steering:

1. Go to http://mybtdevice.home (if premium discs http://btwhole.home) on a device connected to Whole Home Wi-Fi
2. Log in with the admin password
3. Now go to  http://mybtdevice.home/steering.htm (if premium discs http://btwhole.home/steering.htm) which is a system configuration  page
4. Set "Legacy steering" to disabled.
5. Restart the Whole Home Wi-Fi discs

The last option would be to reset each disc individually.  First reinstall the App, don't open.  Make sure all other discs are unplugged as you reset each disc. Once they have all been reset plug just the main disc back in and go through the set up on the App again.

If you are still experiencing the issue, please send from the App your Logs by going to ‘Help’, tap the email and select ‘Share’
If you could also send a screen print of your network topology from the App, go to ‘Settings’, then Network map

Could you also provide the following details so that we can escalate your issue further?

Full contact name:
Contact Number:

What router/hub are you using?
Who provides the broadband service at home?
What is the upload speed of your home Wi-Fi network + signal strength?

What is the problem you are experiencing?
Has the problem Occurred before if so how frequently

As instructed, I've now changed the channel frequency and compatibility mode as well as disabled legacy steering.  However, I still get internet connection drops accompanied by "There is a problem with your internet connection" error message on the front screen of the Whole Home Wi-Fi from BT app seemingly every few minutes.  In summary, I now don't see the red light appear on my main disc, but my internet connection drops are more frequent (i.e. multiple times an hour compared to multiple times a day before I upgraded the firmware).

Thanks in anticipation!

Re: Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi SGAB208218 Early Adopter Release now

Try disabling the wireless radios on your router (you should have done this anyway), with it being a mesh system, unless you have black bt discs (in that case wrong thread), you should have disabled your router wifi first off, unless your using your bt discs as access points (device steering) not mesh steering.

Thanks @foz. Tried disabling Wi-Fi network on my BT Hub 6 / Smart Hub router. Unfortunately, still getting regular internet connection drops.
