Recharging Advanced Phone Z - handset on base station

I've had a 4-way Advanced Phone Z  for several years. All has worked fine until the last couple of months. Whichever handset is left on the central base station loses its charge. Each handset will happily charge on any of the other 3 charging pods. Any idea of what needs fixing? We have calls recorded of friends and family that we have lost so we are reluctant to replace the base station or reset it. I'm hoping someone might know what needs cleaning or tightening.

Check the pins that provide the charge on the base to ensure they're not bent or dirty, preventing a good contact with the phone. If all is good then the base would require dismantling, which is probably beyond most & risks further damage. You could just look to Ebay for an additional charging cradle.

As for the treasured messages, I'd suggest you record those to a mobile phone or other recording device for posterity, as the base could otherwise fail completely at some time & they'd be lost anyway. If you do that then you could obviously replace the base.
