Hi all!
Some questions as to how to secure the BT Smart Hub..?
How do I hide my SSID? Just so it doesn't stand out so much on everyone's WiFi apps?
What's the best way to restrict what devices can connect to the Smart Hub? I mean, apart from using a long, complex password - because I have one of those already.
Anything else you can think of to help strengthen my security on the Smart Hub and protect my home network from packet-sniffers 'n War Drivers 'n WiFi piggybackers and all that bad stuff..!
I'm already using WPA2..!
You cannot hide the SSID, and even if you could, it would make no difference, as the BSSID can still be seen by anyone with a suitable wireless card.
Apart from using a good password, there is no other way you can improve security.
What's the point. Joe Bloggs won't know how or want to hack your wifi and the people who do will circumvent whatever precautions you take if they are that interested.
AaaaaAaaaAaAAAaaahhhhhh! Trolls!!!
...But seriously, there are a million reasons why anyone would want their WiFi secure from eavesdroppers.
Indeed, and a strong password will suffice to deter the casual eavesdropper. If anybody seriously wanted to crack your wifi there is NOTHING you can do to prevent it. Seriously.
There are plenty of things that can be done. I can think of a few.
Anyway, still waiting on constructive answers.
You have a long wait ahead.
Hi Everyone, please keep it friendly.
Thanks
Neil
I don't know the definitive answer but if you are concerned just use the things that you are aware of as posted by you in message 7 - surely they would be sufficient.
A determined hacker will break almost any encryption etc etc and you seem to have enough knowledge to make yours as secure as possible.
