Whole Home Wifi ceiling mounting

Go to solution
Can someone help me,

I would love to mount my whole home discs to the ceiling.

I have looked around the net and guides and I can't find how to take the feet off.

Does anyone know how you do this.

There not bad discs and I could extend the range massively if I could ceiling mount them.

And help appreciated

Mack

No probs, most probs not the answer you were hoping for, but I wanted to help you avoid damaging the disc whilst attempting to remove the stand.

Regarding removal of the stand on the Wholehome antennas.

It seems to me the stand feet must be removable as there is a hanging slot provided behind the plastic remove able plate above it. Either it needs a special action or a bigger hammer .... can anyone at BT advise, as it is obvious that the screw slot is meant for hanging the antenna .... isn't it ?

I can wholeheartedly confirm that the stand cannot be removed. The disc will break if forced.

It can be wall mounted with the stand still attached as the stand will allow ventilation and space for the cables behind the device.

The feet CAN be removed.

Just unclip the front of the disc with a blunt knife or flat head screwdriver.

Inside there is a small screw securing the stand to the disc - remove it and the stand comes away.

All you do then is push the front back into place, making sure the clips line up.

I've used this to wall mount one of mine. The only challenge was lining up the whole in the wall for the power as it protrudes significantly from the back of the disc.

Thanks for the reply,

I must admit I got a refund and brought

Ubiquiti Networks UniFi AC HD 1700Mbit/s Power over Ethernet

This works flawlessly and not had a single problem with it since installation.
Plus it mounts to the ceiling.

The Bt whole home wifi is an average product at best not worth the £300 it was first sold at, which might explain why a friend of mine picked it up for £150 brand new last week.

Thanks again for the feedback

Are you using PoE? What does your network look like?

Thanks

So my network is pretty basic

Smart Hub connected to a gigabit switch via cat 7 cables. My house is long. So an afternoon cabling the house pulling up floorboards was well worth it.

The access point is connected to the giga switch for the moment until I can upgrade it to 10gbs. And yes it's connected via Poe from the supplier.

Personally hard wiring all the games consoles and streaming devices in the house via cat 7 cable has eliminated lag and we now flawless streaming.

The wifi is now flawless, speed /range and overall performance is second to none

Where as the whole home would drop out 4 feet from the disc the replacement now works at full speed at the end of my garden.
