Hi.
Had 3 black discs on whole home wifi 6 working well since Christmas. We had the 150mb fibre package and got close to this around the house.
Recently resubbed and got the 500mb package. Speedtests show we are getting that speed to the hub but devices all getting around 400 - 260 around the house. Nothing has changed in disc setup though.
Any reason why we got full speeds on the slower package yet not on the faster one? Is that a limit to the wholehome technology or should I be able to get full speeds on a faster package too?
Thanks!
You are almost certainly coming up against the speeds your WiFi devices are capable of in real life now becoming the limiting factor rather than the speed of your connection to the internet. Over time this will change and you'll see more of your newer devices taking advantage of that increased bandwidth!
Ah ok. Thanks for the help. I did a quick google and my iPhone 13 looked like it worked with fast connections. It gets 400 in lounge near router but then 250 upstairs. It used to be 150 everywhere. That still sound right to you? Just checking?
Its more a curiosity thing, 250 is fast enough just cant understand it - OCD mind!
When you wander around the house from node to node, you might not be changing node as often as you think - it's all rules-based and if it's not determined that your device needs to change the node it's connected to then it'll stick on whatever node it used to be connected to. So what you can try doing is turning the WiFi on your phone or other devices off and then back on, and you may just get a better speed!
Generally, if it works then best not to mess around with it!
