You cannot do that anymore as they are going away from the ONT that they used to use that had a built in modem.. this one does not.. therefore the only way to use a third party router is use the BT has the modem.
You are talking total nonsense, the ONT is a modem, end of!!
If it wasn't a modem you wouldn't be able to connect it to the hub WAN port.
engineer said the same when we tried to get it working.. it will not connect.
I am not talking nonsense at all, I know what I’m talking about - also spoke to BT and they said the same..
maybe they’re using a different ONT for others.. but for me.. this is the case.
Please explain how you think you can connect an ONT to a hub WAN port if it isn't a modem. Why would you convert an optical line signal to an electrical DSL signal only to convert it back to an Ethernet signal?
Almost 2 years after original post and still no sign of the new V3 hub with WiFi 6.
I did ring last week but they could not confirm any release date at all except to say there would be a £100 plus vat charge to upgrade to it.So May hold off on my FTTP order for a couple of months just in case as always nice to have latest model.
I did see a report which said that it is “rumoured “ to be July that the next generation SH is going to be released. ( for the life of me I can’t remember where I saw it). However, BT are a communication company and not doing a very good job of communicating to their customers, so it can only be considered as hearsay.
Sorry I can’t give anything more. Perhaps one of the Moderators on here could ask BT on our behalf.
