Re: Wifi extension or hotspot help

You need to use powerline adaptors with a wifi hotspot on one end.

A wireless "extender" as such isn't really a viable option, they're usually poor at best.

Google powerline wifi.

Re: Wifi extension or hotspot help

Thanks for this , do these need wires running all over the house ? My previous hub from bt used two wifi dual band extenders and so wifi reached other rooms as plugged in within a range no wires but I hear from forums that new slit channel wifi hub won't work with extenders . So do you think power line would extend
After only one day I think wifi smart hub going back ! Bt advert not true

Re: Wifi extension or hotspot help

No, they just plug into a mains socket and use the mains wiring.

Re: Wifi extension or hotspot help

They work through your house electrical wires.

You need something like this

https://www.shop.bt.com/products/bt-wi-fi-home-hotspot-plus-600-kit-084286-BVFB.html

You do not need to use BT ones. Other will work with the BT hubs.

Re: Wifi extension or hotspot help

They only transmit on the 2.4Ghz band unfortunately.

So if I plug one in to back of smart hub it will select automatically the channel then I can plug two more in over the house no wires

Re: Wifi extension or hotspot help

That's right. You connect one via Ethernet to the smart hub and plug it into the mains.

You then plus the wireless adaptors where you want them in the house, and they use the mains wiring to send the signal to the adaptor connected to the hub.
