awaiting a new router

Hi,

I signed up for Fibre 900 last week and was advised that I would be receiving a Smart Hub 3 to replace the Smart Hub 2 that I had with my previous  BT Contract. Well the new router hasn't arrived yet, how long should I give it to turn up and who should I contct should it not appear? Thank you

Unless you are a new customer I would not take it as read that you will receive a Smarthub 3.

The Smarthub 2 will work with Fibre 900 and BT do not normally replace hubs when a customer upgrades their package unless there is a requirement to do so in order to make the package work.

If you do get a new Smarthub 3 it would normally arrive the day before installation.

were you an existing BT broadband customer upgrading to FTTP 900 from a lower speed FTTP and SH2 worked perfectly well?   Or upgrading from FTTC to FTTP?

currently SH3 is given to new customers and existing customer if current SH was not adequate for new upgrade contract

you would need to phone CS 03301234150 and see if they will send SH3

Yes I was on Fibre 2 previously and that contract was due to expire at the end of this month. Sorted out a new one switching to Full Fibre 900 and was assured that I would be receiving the Smart Hub 3 as part of the package. The customer service guy on the chat said to get the full benefit of Full Fibre 900 it was better to have the Smart Hub 3

Did you get it in the confirmation email that you would get the SH3.

Hopefully you will get it. Please keep us updated if it arrives.

Thank you, whilst I didn't get an email specific to the new hub I have a copy of the chat transcript where it says rest assured you will get the new hub. I'll keep you informed

That's good.

If the SH3 does not arrive prior to the install you can in the short term connect the SH2 which will work.

When the SH3 arrives you can change the name (SSiD) and wireless password to be the same as your SH2 and that will save you having to reconnect all your wireless devices.

You will get a warning when you try to change them that the SSid and password must be x amount of digits long. You can ignore this and over ride the warning if you want to keep the "old" SSid and password even if it is not long enough.

Thank you for that info, that'll be very handy. I wouldn't normally get agitated about the non-arrival of the router however I believe I only have 14 days to cancel a new agreement and if I didn't chase it up now  then I could be left high & dry  should I not receive the SH3
