A little more information might help.

Has this just started to happen?

Is this a new service that has never worked?

A flashing orange light indicates that you have physical connectivity but your service hasn't been activated.

No, it has always been a function of DSL connectivity but no PPPoE authentication.

No, because it isn't authenticating. Perhaps if you answered my questions we might get a better idea of the problem.

This is like pulling teeth.

Did it work ok previously and then stopped working, or has it never worked?

Have you reported the fault?

Re: orange light flashing On SH2

If you watch an SH2 start up it goes green then it flashes orange, as it negotiates the connection with the other end, then it turns blue.

The orange stage only usually lasts a few seconds.  If it is stuck on that it is failing to negotiate a connection with the other end of some reason.  It's a fault and you'll need to phone it in.
