2 week old Hub 6 - constant green light

Moved to BT Infinity 2 weeks ago using HH6. Mostly stable except for 3 short periods (1 hour ish) with multiple disconnects. Stable for last 5 days.

10:44 this morning I lost my vpn to work and realised my hub was unreachable (no web page response). Green light. Left it 20 minutes. Restarted (off for 30 seconds). Green light - Left it for 1 hour. About to call the 0800 number.

Any suggestions?

If a factory reset by pressing the recessed button with a pin doesn't work, the hub is bricked.

Yeah called broadband support. They insisted on walking me through the "what type of master socket" dance. Eventually they twigged that it just wasn't starting. Factory reset failed. New hub in post. Which is fine except I now can't work from home until it arrives. Sigh.

All the more reason to have your own 3rd party router.

Agree. I don't even need wifi on the hub, I use Ubiquiti Unifi.

Recommendation? Open reach vdsl from the bay?

Yep, if you have your own router. Get an Huawei HG612 in preference to ECI, don't pay a premium for an unlocked one, it is unneccessary but they are trivial to unlock to obtain line stats if you wish to.

That's odd I read a post earlier saying the exact opposite, that the Huawei was more fault-prone

I don't think either are particularly fault prone, just the Huawei is simple to unlock, the ECI isn't. If you are not worried aout unlocking it doesn't really matter which you go for.

Assume you have a Ubiquiti router as well as APs.
