.5 second freezes playing online games

Hi

The last couple of weeks I've been getting .5 second freezes playing online games particularly wow. I've rebooted, virus checked, checked drivers and all the usual stuff . In addition I've connected the PC to a virgin line and played for 24 hours no issue. The minute I go back to a BT line the issue starts.

It happens at irregular intervals, sometimes 4 or 5 episodes in a minute, sometimes goes for 30 mins without a problem.

The line seems fine for everything else so I'm flummoxed atm. Anyone have any bright ideas ?

Thanks in advance

Re: intermittent 5 second freezws

Same here! Since the last firmware update for the bt "not so" Smarthub (Firmware version: SG4B1000B316, Firmware updated: 27-Jul-2017) I'm getting like 2-3 seconds freezes in Call of Duty on Xbox live. My mate got bt infinity as well with HH5 and getting the same since the hub was updated.

You mean a 3rd party router surely. Care to post which one for the benefit of those still suffering?

Re: intermittent 5 second freezws

Yes would be great to kno what router you got. I would need one for high traffic. Online games, netflix, amazon, youtube and downloads.

Re: intermittent 5 second freezws

There are many threads that mention the different routers around.

There is also the 'future' issue of IPv6 which you may whish to consider.

There are many others more qualified than I to recommend a router for you.

Just do a search and read for an hour or twoSmiley Wink

I stayed with TP-Link (thanks licquorice) and went for a VR900 V2 (there is a V3 but cost??)

For 'non out of the box' IPv6 BT (/56, delegated etc) then prinknash/licquorice/Dode on this thread

https://community.bt.com/t5/Connected-Devices-Other/TP-LINK-Archer-VR900-or-BT-HH6/td-p/1717932

That seems to cover VR400, VR600 & VR900 - all TP-Link.

I havn't had the VR900 in for long but I can tell you that it is boringSmiley Very Happy

edit none of the above actually means that ths solves your issue. It could be something else entirely, there is not enough data in your post.
