Awful BT internet

I'm starting to feel like every time I pet my dog my bt internet decides to reset its self or turn my new favourite colour orange

Ever since I made the decision to switch from sky to bt (BT were offering a better package for a slightly higher price than sky) but I would soon learn that this would be the worst choice I've made so far.

When I first got my pc I was so excited because I was promised 100mbs internet so when I got my internet and used it to play a couple of online games it was amazing it felt 10x faster than sky which I previously had but this good internet wouldn't last long it would turn its self off every time the phone rang (It would sometimes turn off for the whole day!) and I getting frustrated as I couldn't make it through one online game which out my character freezing and see the little "connection issues" message pop up. This would then continue most days and once in a blue moon it wouldn't turn off on one day but it still didn't help the fact my 100mbs turned into about 20mbs.

Sadly after 6 months this still continues and has got worse now to the point every five minutes my game would freeze for about 10 seconds then I would return to see either 1. I'm dead or 2. I've disconnected. Thankfully my contract with bt ends soon and to anyone who is reading this please when your choosing your broadband provider pick someone who is actually good like virgin media.

Thank you for your time.

Re: Awful BT internet

if you have a Homehub 5 can you also post the stats from 1-12 by logging onto the homehub management pages then troubleshooting > helpdesk. http://bthomehub.home/

The stats for the Home Hub 6 can be found on the Information page from http://192.168.1.254 then Advanced Settings -> Technical Log.

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results. Make sure you delete your phone number before posting.

Can you use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

Re: Awful BT internet

Hi @LSan232 and welcome.

I'm sorry you're having problems with your connection. You've mentioned speeds of up to 100meg. I'm assuming you're on the fiber to the home service then? Is that correct?

Cheers

David

Re: Awful BT internet

FTTP doesn't provide "up to 100meg".

80/20, 200/20 or 300/30 right?

Re: Awful BT internet

My mistake @Webby. I'm just confused by the 100meg and am looking for clarification.

Cheers

Re: Awful BT internet

Most likely customer confusion, hearing what they want to hear 😉
