BT Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

Hey all.

Hopefully somebody can help me.
Been having issues with my Infinity Box since yesterday where the broadband keeps cutting out on roughly 5-10 minute intervals.

I have an engineer booked to come out tomorrow however as I work from home I could do with a quicker fix.

Any ideas anyone? The light is orange currently. But then flashes. Then goes blue for a little while before it all starts again.

Any help would be appreciated.

On occasion, but not all the little ‘b’ symbol flashes orange too.

Can you get dial tone on your phone? Is the quiet line test 17070 perfectly quiet or is there any crackling when connected to the test socket behind the removable faceplate of the master socket? I suspect you have a line fault which the engineer will hopefully fix tomorrow.

Thank you for your response licquorice.

I do get a dial tone on the landline. But can’t do the quiet line test thing as our phone isn’t a touchtone one so can’t press 2 to get to that test.

When I remove the faceplate I don’t seem to have a test socket either. Just the main socket.

Sorry I’m really rubbish with tech stuff but this is really getting to me now.

Ah and when I called up they tested the line and said no issues.

Would the engineer be different to that?

Just dial a single digit to get rid of dial tone and then listen if the line is quiet. The engineer will be able to test your line when he arrives.

I dialled a single digit and it sounded pretty quiet to me. Maybe a slight crackle but nothing that would make me worry.

I guess the engineer will have a better idea. Essentially it’s just doing my head in.

Do you think it’s serious or an easy fix? (Obviously going off the extremely limited info I’ve given)

Any crackle shows a problem. The engineer will be able to resolve it though.

Absolutely no idea, it could be any number of things. The line should be absolutely quiet, a slight crackle indicates a probable line fault.
