Then you risk a £129 bill if it turns out to be an internal problem.

Re: BT Broadband been dropping 7+ times a day for months.

@JamiePay

You could pay £129 (if it's your internal wiring) or under £10 for a BT MF50 ADSL Microfilter.

Search on a popular "auction" site begining with the letter E.

Make sure it's a boxed one.

A few days wait saves the cash.

Ask a friend/colleague if they have a spare one?

Kind Regards

yes using the filter connect your hub to the test socket then see if the connection remains stable

Re: BT Broadband been dropping 7+ times a day for months.

Right i found a filter and have just unscrewed the socket and pluged it all in, but when you asked about checking if there is a dial tone on other sockets, this is the only one i have in my home. My old master socket got cut off.

Re: BT Broadband been dropping 7+ times a day for months.

@JamiePay

so the socket you are connected to is the only working socket in the property?

  1. Do you have a phone you can plug into the socket? If you do.. when you are not using the internet, remove the filter, plug the phone (on its own) in and dial 17070 use the option for Quiet Line Test and see if you can hear any noise. If you hear noise, report it as a voice fault (do not mention broadband) via 151 and state you are in the test socket.  (if you have done this already, ignore this step)
  2. If there is no noise I would continue to monitor the connection, and see how it peforms.  If it's as bad, report it as a broadband fault via the helpdesk.
