We are on Infinity 1 and on the 13th of July we received an email saying we had been given 5 free upgrades from BT including an increase in broadband speed (going up from 38Mb to 52Mb), more Cloud storage, BT Sport package etc.
However, I've carried out a number of speedtests since the email arrived in my inbox and my speeds haven't changed? I reset the router this morning via the HH5 settings and carried out another speedtest - exactly the same results as before - no increase. Is there something else which needs to be done before my speeds increase?
It depends if your speed is capable of being increased, if you were receiving less than the previous (40M) cap for Infinity1 originally, the increase will have no effect, the cap has just been moved to 55M. What speed are you currently getting?
What speed were you getting previously. If it was not 38Mbps you will not see any increase in speed by the software cap being lifted to 52Mbps.
Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results. Make sure you delete your phone number before posting.
and use this speed tester then scroll down the page and carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.
If you have a Homehub 5 can you also post the stats from 1-12 by logging onto the Homehub management pages then troubleshooting > helpdesk. http://bthomehub.home/
if you have a HH5 can you go to hub manager then trobleshooting then helpdesk and post 1-12
can you run btspeedtester and when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post results must be done with wired connection btspeedtester
can you enter your phone number and post results remember to delete number wholesale FTTC check
Without @Cammy55 posting more information cannot say whether exact same as you or something else
Hi folks, apologies for the delay in posting back, was out for family dinner.
I usually get 'bang on' or thereabouts, 40Mb speed as you can see:-
As you can see from line 6 of your stats, the 40M cap has been removed and you are now syncing slightly faster. In removing the cap, a DLM reset would have been performed which has probably removed G.Inp temporarily. Your speed will possibly increase further when (if) DLM re-instates G.Inp on your line. It may not reach the max speed indicated in line 7 of the stats though.
Ok......so what does that mean, essentially?....LOL. Bit confused!!
Should I just wait for a few days and see if it goes up any? I take it the best thing to do would be NOT reboot my router too many times?
Leave things alone and do not re-boot the Homehub. Any improvement may take more than a few days, possibly a few weeks.
