It makes commercial sense not to put all your eggs in one basket. Hence 2 manufacturers of hubs and 2 manufacturers of cabinets.

HH5 A&B are different manufacturers but more importantly they have different chipsets and different firmware hence why the HH5b is ok with G.INP whereas the hh5a has got new firmware recently (204.1.11) to help with G.INP

I got it this morning and noticed underneith the HH5 it says Type A made in China so basically they have sent me out another Type A. My original Type A was one of the first along time ago before it was even advertised in the BT shop so this one I have now has it changed or will it just be the same because my issue is the one I have now keeps rebooting but I told him this on the phone and he said yes the new HH5's have now been upgraded to stop this fault from happening but I thought this was only with the new type B's? Should I send it back and ask for a Type B or would this issue of rebooting just be a fault with my orignal HH5 Type A and keep it? He told me on the phone he would make sure the latest HH5 was sent out to me.

As I said before, Type A v Type B is not about which is the latest, they are both 'the latest'. You will get sent whatever they lay their hands on , you cannot specify Type A or Type B

OK, so is there really no difference between the two? do I just presume my original one is faulty?. I have looked at the serial numbers and my original one is alot lower number than the new one so obviously its alot newer model!. I thought that it needed to be a Type B to stop it from rebooting. Do I send it back or is there just a chance another Type A will get sent out again.

There is no difference (other than manufacturer and chipset), they are sent out at random.

So I put it down to the original one being faulty, rebooting during the night, virtually every night?

Possibly. Some people have lots of problems with Home Hubs of both varieties, others have no problems. Personally, I wouldn't have one as a gift and have always used third party routers.

Thanks. I have set it up now and tbh it doesnt look any different via serials etc.. on the help page but I will leave it now and see if it reboots again, apart from the new update which is not there yet 204.1.11 its on 204 at the moment, I will hope on no more reboots. I will let you know 🙂

I wonder if the OP got sorted in the end after I hijacked his thread? sorry about that I totally forgot I thought it was my thread but I didnt open one in the end I got a bit carried away with myself. Actually thinking about it I wonder what sort of luck he has had with his HH5 A & B's I wonder which model was best for reboots/disconnections? I wouldn't of minded knowing myself?
