Re: BT Home Hub 5 with BT Infinity 2 - Rebooting

My HH5A has been doing this from day one at first I just put it down to the setup process but the longest time connected over the past two weeks has been one day. I have also noticed that it reboots when I get an incoming call ..... Getting fed up with it now !!!!

if your hub resets when you get an incoming call have you tried using the test socket with a new filter and see if that helps. iif not then you appear to have a high restance fault and need to report a phone fault to 151  http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/connectionprobs.htm

Re: BT Home Hub 5 with BT Infinity 2 - Rebooting

Hi when I complained about the low speeds an openreach engineer fitted a new faceplate with inbuilt filter and tried to reset my connection which instantly came back as 2.7meg as I was to far from the cabinet fttc 1900 m. He advised me to go back to my old setup and he was putting a report in. I rang BT and gave them the story and they gave me a vol number. Over the past seven days I have been getting 8.5 meg until hh5 disconnects and then 2.7 again. My account shows an open fault still but the vol number given to me after my call does not show up ?

Would it hurt to try my old hh3 instead ?

Re: BT Home Hub 5 with BT Infinity 2 - Rebooting

@fen666 run your line check from this website see what results you get at the end> http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/index.html

You need to have the latest java fitted and I suggest run it with Firefox web browser, it might just suggest your problem.

Edit: also I forgot to mention to you only have 1 PC running and have nothing else via ethernet cable, Gaming Consoles, Phones, P2P Clients, Digital TV etc.. Run that website from every PC, one by one you might just have an issue from a certain PC causing your Home Hub to reboot. It could just be as simple as an MTU value needing changing on one of your PC's confilicting with your Home Hub connection causing the HH5 to reboot, its been known to happen!

Re: BT Home Hub 5 with BT Infinity 2 - Rebooting

This new HH5 Type A seems to disconnect more than the other one, it has disconnected several times since I have installed it. Will it normally disconnect a few times when you first install it for the first few days or so? or should I give them a ring and let them know? I might as well go back to the old one if its going to keep this up. I've now noted the IP address down to see how many times it changes and if it changes all the time by disconnecting I might as well send it back and keep the old one going.

Edit: by any chance is there anything in the Home Hub settings that may cause disconnections, maybe I have something set up wrong and I'm not sure what?

As pippincp says, it's in the event logs. (This applies to HH5a).

You should see the full disconnect listings under category WAN. - date and time and also what the speeds were at that time.

Re: BT Home Hub 5 with BT Infinity 2 - Rebooting

Well for over six months 8+meg solid then slow deteriation and bt wholesale max obtainable 6.6 and now 0.76 4.0 4.31 well you get the picture and i am sick of it .

Today an honest engineer rang me and we had an interesting conversation it seems in his paperwork my minimal connection speed for my faster bb is low and behold 8.2 which to be fair I was always happy with being as the cabinet is over 1400m from my property and seems to be the only one serving west norfolk.

He checked the lines and reconnected my neighbours line which had been pulled and then explained to me all about cable fill so in reality things will only get worse with all the building work going on in the village.

Time for a refund I think !!!!!!

Oh by the way my mothers house is about 200m away from the cabinet and for the first 6 months 12meg .... checked it today  just under 6 .... nice!!!
