BT Infinity 1 still capped? How to confirm?

Go to solution

Hi,

Spent hours on phone to various people trying to get some simple answers to how DLM works etc. I got an email in June last year that my Infinity 1 speed would be increased (the up to 38 bump to up to 52). But never recevied the email (which my father in law did) saying it had happened and never saw a speed increase.

At the end of contract trying to figure out what to do and whether an up to 52 is actually of benefit on my line.

No one on phones could tell me. Kept trying to upsell to inifnity 2 which I don't think is worth it on my line. They then said a line test showed noise and booked engineer visit. A call later that eve to say they'd identified an exchange issue and wanted to cancel engineer. I wonder if it was just a tactic to get me off phone as I was being quite insistent. Either way, engineer comes today and tests line which is fine but can't access the data which would show if cap still in place. Looking at post on here, I think that it is but that I'd only get a little bit more speed if it was lifted.

Can anyone confirm this? Also how do I get this cap lifted if I sign back up for Infinity 1 as whilst it may only be a few mb/s, I'd still like my maximum possible speed!

Stats below

Thanks!

Certainly looks like you're still on the 40/10 service.

If the line was banded due to instability then I'd expect the sync rate to be a few kbos shy of 40000, as opposed to exactly 40000.

Thnaks, that's what I thought. Suspiciously round number.

Any idea how I get rid of the cap, or when I renew Infinity 1, making sure it is removed then?

Am I right that there's little point upgrading to Inifintiy 2 as I won't see a big speed increase?

There's no point in upgrading to Infinity 2. I fact the extra 7Mbps you would recieve with the cap removed would be unnoticeable.

It's close to a 20% increase which isn't nothing and should be noticeable.

Given I've already been told in June last year they were going to remove the cap and they're trying to get me to recontract on Inifinyty for 2 years, I'm only going to do that if I get the absoute maximum I'm paying for and therefore with cap removed.

So any advice on how to do this gratefully recevied.

It looks as if the mods may need to intervene to sort out the cap.

There is no point getting Infinity 2 as your maximum download is less than the 52Mbps limit on Infinity 1.

Just a tad slow with my reply:smileylol:

@DavidM

Tried to contact you from profile but can't see any link.

On the right it shows contact me and that you're online and last activity. Also has add as friend and ignore but nothing else?

What details do you need? BT account number, phone number?

Thanks,

Tom
