BT Infinity 2: 5 mps?! :(

Hi! I've just switched from a standard broadband to BT Infinity 2.
An engineer came this morning to complete the setup and, checking the speed, he told me that it was 40 download and 10 upload.

Because I couldn't see any improvement on the speed while browsing, i've done some speed test and the actual speed is 5 mps.

Would you recommend to contact immediately BT because there is definitely an issue or should I wait some time expecting to see an improvement?

Thanks for your help

@ale_bWelcome to this user forum.

How are you running the speed test, wireless or Ethernet?

Are you confusing megabytes with megabits, its a common mistake?

5 MegaBytes/s  = 40 MegaBits/s

What does the BT Speed tester say?

BT support will just tell you to wait until 10 days have passed.

Re: BT Infinity 2: 5 mps?! :(

@pippincp I think its just a misinterpretation of the results, as many speed testers show megaBytes/s

The commissioning test showed 40 Mbs.

More than likely @Keith_Beddoe. I just didn't want the OP wasting his time calling in only to be told to wait for 10 days.

Re: BT Infinity 2: 5 mps?! :(

Thanks.

Was that run using an Ethernet connected computer?

Can you also provide the information from the home hub, using this link.

Smart hub (HH6) connection information- you need to be connected to the home hub to see this info.

Using my laptop, but with WIFI, I don't have an ethernet connection on my computer.

Here the information about the home hub:

Re: BT Infinity 2: 5 mps?! :(

That connection speed is terrible. Are you using exactly the same phone socket that the engineer ran their test from, or are you tring to use an extension socket?

Which number matches your master phone  socket? And where have you plugged the home hub into?

Single master sockets

Filtered master sockets

What does the hub show as modulation type? (Further down the list on the stats I think)
