BT Infinity 2 - Poor Speeds

Hello,

I have had Infinity 2 for nearly 2 years and its got to the point where I feel I am paying too much for such poor speeds.

I use hg612b modem into my own router (tested HH5 and its worse), directly connected to my desktop via CAT6 I have never seen above 25Mb Down/4Mb Up. Typical speed is around 22Mb down, checking the website my Minimum garenteed speed should be 40Mb.

I have had numerous engineers visit, they run there tests and say there is no fault and thats it.

I work for a BB compeptitor (not availible in my area), and this would not be acceptable in any way shape or form, so what the deal?

I do not want to go through the call centre from scratch to resolve this, can anyone point me in the right direction on who or how to contact.

Thanks

No, I had an engineer visit and he said there was nothing he could do, just ran a test and that was it. I have been too busy to follow this up. My stats are below if that helps diagnose:

Re: BT Infinity 2 - Poor Speeds

your stats suggest that your connection speed is about your attainable and noise margin about normal 6db so don't see where more speed will come from

enter your phone  number and post results  remember delete number  https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

are you using the test socket with a filter  especially if you have extension sockets

No extensions, cable straight into NTE5 MK3 with inbuit filter. I am an engineer for another BB provider, our network is very different but I know the basic stuff to look for on a ADSL/FTTC line. From what I have read online it is the distance to the fiber node causing the problem 900m estimated. An engineer previously did mention that the cables where I live are Alluminium opposed to Copper, which also does not help.

Does not seem right paying full price for a service when I am not getting the minimum guaranteed speed.

Re: BT Infinity 2 - Poor Speeds

at 900m you should still have better than you have on a normal copper line but if a lot is aluminium that could be your problem

did you actually try the test socket with a filter to rule out a problem with the MK3 - unlikley but it does happen

Re: BT Infinity 2 - Poor Speeds

Yes I have tried 2 different sockets, no difference. I don't understand why my minimum guaranted speed is much lower than what I get. Is there not a way to have a cable replaced if it is the culprit of this problem?

Re: BT Infinity 2 - Poor Speeds

Sorry in a previous post you said you had no extensions but you are saying you have tried 2 different sockets. So have you actually tried the test socket to eliminate any problems from internal wiring

if still no improvement then you need to phone customer services and get engineer visit. Openreach will only replace line as last resort especially if phone works ok
