Hi all, hope someone can help shed some light on my speed issues. When I first got BT Infinity 2 about 2 months ago, I was syncing at 70/20... now I'm down this this:
Here are my line stats:
|1. Product name:||BT Home Hub|
|2. Serial number:||+068343+NQ41672139|
|3. Firmware version:||Software version 18.104.22.168.22.214.171.124.6 (Type A) Last updated 31/07/14|
|4. Board version:||BT Hub 5A|
|5. VDSL uptime:||1 days, 08:39:11|
|6. Data rate:||11836 / 34999|
|7. Maximum data rate:||12342 / 33983|
|8. Noise margin:||4.5 / 5.0|
|9. Line attenuation:||0.0 / 23.9|
|10. Signal attenuation:||0.0 / 24.0|
Any suggestions... would like to at least get something close to what I'm paying for! Thanks!
looks like bad crosstalk maybe.
with that line attenuation you were never syncing at 70 so.
your close to what you can get at that range.
Hmm OK, thanks. This is a new block of flats and we got installed pretty early on. I wonder if something has changed/broken/degraded after more people have been set up?
Is there anyway I can escalate this to someone at BT who knows what they're talking about? The line has clearly degraded since installation (I have had speedtests of 65Mb, now only 30Mb), but I can't seem to get that point across to India.
Will see if I can borrow an old telephone and try... Will listen to the line too.
I suppose it could be cross talk (we were probably one of the first in the building to be connected), but what I find a little odd is the step change in speed. We were happily at 70Mb sync for several weeks and then a sudden drop in speed overnight. If it was cross talk, would you not expect a more gradual (and by the accounts of others, less extreme) drop in speed?
I've just tried using the line with one of these:
It didn't work at all (no dial tone). I suspect it is not wired up correctly... how can I escalate this as quickly, ideally without going through India?
