BT Infinity 2 speed halved

Hi all, hope someone can help shed some light on my speed issues.  When I first got BT Infinity 2 about 2 months ago, I was syncing at 70/20... now I'm down this this:

Downstream:34.18 Mbps
Upstream:11.56 Mbps

Here are my line stats:

1. Product name:BT Home Hub
2. Serial number:+068343+NQ41672139
3. Firmware version:Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.173.1.6 (Type A) Last updated 31/07/14
4. Board version:BT Hub 5A
5. VDSL uptime:1 days, 08:39:11
6. Data rate:11836 / 34999
7. Maximum data rate:12342 / 33983
8. Noise margin:4.5 / 5.0
9. Line attenuation:0.0 / 23.9
10. Signal attenuation:0.0 / 24.0

Any suggestions... would like to at least get something close to what I'm paying for!  Thanks!

Re: BT Infinity 2 speed halved

looks like bad crosstalk maybe.

with that line attenuation you were never syncing at 70 so.

your close to what you can get at that range.

Re: BT Infinity 2 speed halved

Hmm OK, thanks.  This is a new block of flats and we got installed pretty early on.  I wonder if something has changed/broken/degraded after more people have been set up?

Re: BT Infinity 2 speed halved

Is there anyway I can escalate this to someone at BT who knows what they're talking about?  The line has clearly degraded since installation (I have had speedtests of 65Mb, now only 30Mb), but I can't seem to get that point across to India.

Hi jackandrews,

It looks a bit extreme but you might find the following of interest :-

Re: BT Infinity 2 speed halved

Will see if I can borrow an old telephone and try... Will listen to the line too.

I suppose it could be cross talk (we were probably one of the first in the building to be connected), but what I find a little odd is the step change in speed.  We were happily at 70Mb sync for several weeks and then a sudden drop in speed overnight.  If it was cross talk, would you not expect a more gradual (and by the accounts of others, less extreme) drop in speed?

Re: BT Infinity 2 speed halved

It's more likely to be a fault given that your speeds are well below the minimum estimate for your line.

Re: BT Infinity 2 speed halved

I've just tried using the line with one of these:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5526527.htm

It didn't work at all (no dial tone).  I suspect it is not wired up correctly... how can I escalate this as quickly, ideally without going through India?

Thanks!
