BT Infinity Slow Speed

I have just upgraded to BT Infinity 1 with a HH5. My previous ADSL download spped was 2.7 Mbps. On BT Infinity I am now getting 6.5 Mbps. this is far below the pre contract estimate of 18 - 25 Mbps and very disapointing.

The BT Wholesale diagnostics says,

Download speed 6.54

Acceptable range 4.72 - 6.75

IP profile 6.75 max

Upload speed 1.17

IP profile 10.0 Mbps max

This is via a LAN connection.

India chat line no help, they just say wait ten days.

Any sugestions ?

Re: BT Infinity Slow Speed

In order to find out what services and speed range you should be getting, please enter your phone number into this form.
Broadband availability checker

Please remember to edit out your phone number before you post the results.

Then, if you have a HH5 can you go to hub manager then trobleshooting then helpdesk and post lines 1-12

Re: BT Infinity Slow Speed

Are you using the test socket with a new filter to eliminate internal wiring problems

Re: BT Infinity Slow Speed

I have a feeling distance is his issue as 2.7 is very low for ADSL these days.
If its Fibre to the Cabinet FTTC connection then I imagine he has a long distance from his exchange.

It might be handy however to tell the BT techies on this forum to change your internet profile and turn off download management (which is used to stabilise the connection for things like streaming... But it doesnt actually work).

You may see double the speeds your getting.

Re: BT Infinity Slow Speed

The distance to the exchange has no relevance on a FTTC connection. It is the distance to the cabinet that matters.

When you say   "change your internet profile and turn off download management (which is used to stabilise the connection for things like streaming"  there is no such option on FTTC connections. DLM is an automated process and the ISP have no control over it.
