BT Infinity Solid Red Light + PPPOE Timeout

Yesterday morning at around 11am our connection dropped.    I spoke to BT support who after some tests are sending an engineer round on Friday afternoon; however after a bit of reading on here / online it seems this may be a little pointless.. im experiencing the PPPOE timeout thats been reported countless times on here which seems to be something on BT's backend rather than an issue here..  Is there another way of reporting this ?

Thanks,

If you have FTTP and the solid red light is on the ONT, it indicates a line fault that will need to be investigated.

Its FTTC.   I can see the hub has somewhat communicated with the cabinet as I see connection speeds / line attenuation etc  however the log is full of PPPOE timeout errors.

The engineer will still have to visit, you can't circumvent the process.

That's fine; just didnt want to waste anyones time plus wanting to speed this up since I work from home a lot and this is all quite disruptive.
