I remember when I contacted the community manager of EA in the Uk and sent him links to various different threads and he said it looks like traffic congestion
Here is my solution to the lag with p2p games on BT infinity. I also have my ps3 in the dmz
I tried 4 different routers
Homehub 4, Homehub 5, Belkin N and TP_-Link N900.
I lagged on every router, on 3 different consoles. Limiting my bandwidth using the TP-Link QoS settings definitely helped with the menus and Pro clubs mode on fifa but im afraid P2P games ( UT and H2H) were still laggy.
In the end I had enough sold my Xbox One ( good work EA). Have spent 9 months of laggy gaming at my home address ever since the date of installation. Will be cancelling my contract at the end of term when I graduate and BT have lost a customer for life.
I will continue to post on these forums warning poeple no to choose BT for gaming.
Similar to what spluff said I:
1. Lag on BT inifnity 2 on fifa p2p ( heavy button delay)
2. Dont lag so much on pro clubs mode
3. Dont lag if I test my consoles on neighbours 20mb virgin ADSL package
4. Limiting QoS to my console only really helps with menus and pro clubs not P2P modes
5. Lagged less on p2p modes when BT removed the paris nodes from its routing
In summary Ive been complaining about this for 8 months and got absolutely nowhere. Worst ISP ever. The fact you cant speak to anyone in the UK that actually listens ot understands what you talk about is mind boggling.
I am currently preparing an evidence file of footage of the lag on all modes/routers/consoles etc. With a strongly worded letter I will be sending it off to watchdog and ofcom etc. I have clearly been misold a product, one where I was promised superfast gaming. In reality I have had maybe 2 hours worth of lag free games since August.
Good luck to you all.
Here is a couple of graphs from today playing a p2p game on ps3.
The first is with my upload limited and the second without. The 1st had a small bit of lag at the begining and the second lagged all game.
What console are you using? Have you changed the settings on it? Can you post a screenshot of the settings? What firmware are you using on the router?
I've had two laggy games all day and one of those is when I had QoS switched off.
