BT Infinity speeds

I have just been upgraded to bt infinity. My old suggested speeds for normal broadband were 15-20MBPS and i usually got around 18MBPS. Now i have fibre optic it says i should get between 40 and 54 MBPS but i can only get between 20 and 25MBPS. Do i need to wait at least a week for the speed to get up to what it should be?

Re: BT Infinity speeds

I have actually noticed, after doing some research online, that when i plug my hub into the test socket on the master socket I get around 40MBps which is what i should be getting. How do i get similar speeds on all the sockets in the house?

Re: BT Infinity speeds

It sounds like you have "star wiring" which is a killer for VDSL (Infinity). When you connect to the test socket do your extentions still work?

Re: BT Infinity speeds

When I connect to the test socket, i have to take off the front of the master socket which then disconnects all of the other sockets around the house.

Re: BT Infinity speeds

Are the stats you posted earlier taken when connected to the test socket?

Re: BT Infinity speeds

no. they are taken connected to an extension socket in the room the router usually sits in.
