Re: BT Infinity won't connect to pcspecialist forum, but BTWiFi will. DNS issue or something else?

I'm a PCS customer and forum member and just now tried my Favorite link for the forum and I get redirected to their homepage where I clicked the forum link this fails so I feel PCS have a problem.

I can log in to my account just the forum I can't access.

If it were a forum problem then it would be the same for everyone. Some of us can access the forum easily. That's why I suspect a DNS issue.

Re: BT Infinity won't connect to pcspecialist forum, but BTWiFi will. DNS issue or something else?

There seems to be quite a few DNS issues. I had somone who could not access my website, an when I checked the IP address, it was coming from some old BT Corporate legacy equipment. They were having lots of DNS issues, and when they restarted their home hub, the IP address changed to a normal BT CentralPlus one.

@Fellwalker what message do you see when you select this link BT Broadband check

So does that mean a BT internet problem?

You are connected to BT Residential Broadband

They both register as btcentralplus.com, different ranges, but correct.

It has to be a routing issue somewhere. Restarting the home hub should give you a different public IP address, and possibly a better route.

I wish I knew. It is a computer problem, so I am never convinced it will solved as such, merely temporarily worked around.  That has been my experience over 44 years of the delightful things, since I first came across PL/1 at University.

Perhaps because I have connected to the forum by changing to BTWiFi, it now seems to be happy to work in the forum  back on my main BTHub6 connection.  I've not rebooted.

Nope!

I've tried to return to the PCSpecialist forum today. 404 in all browsers. In between times I have rebooted the laptop.

BUT if I change my wifi connection to BT WiiFi-with-fon, it works perfectly.

It must be a BT problem.

Did you restart the home hub to get a different public IP address?

It could be something within the home hub internal routing which is corrupted, so a factory reset of the home hub may help.

I have advised PCS that I have this problem with them.
