BT Ultrafast 2 with Asus DSL-AC88U

Hi,

I’ve seen some posts about the Asus DSL-AC88U, but my question is can I just use it purely to replace the Huawei MT992 Openreach modem on an Ultrafast 2 (330/50) connection? I don’t want it to do anything that the MT992 doesn’t do (I know, expensive replacement to strip it down, but I’m aware of that). My Ubiquiti setup does the rest for me (DHCP, Wireless and Firewall / Port Forwarding, etc.).

Anyone done this? Any tips on doing it?

Cheers.

There are a couple of posts about this. If you use the seach function you'll find them.

Yes, thanks for that. I had used the search option. The question is about using it in modem only mode. As far as I could see, there are no similar posts relating to this modem AND Ultrafast 2 AND modem only mode.

I find it strange that you want to replace the Huawei MT992 Openreach modem as it's a solid piece of kit.

I cannot see any benefit.

Yes, I know. But I have my reasons. Also the MT992s are impossible to get hold of if anything happens to it (BT would palm me off with a HH).
