BT infinity 2

Wonder if someone can help me out?  I am on infinity 2 and was superb when I first signed up to it, and had no real problems until lately.  When I check the router  I get a download sinc of only 25.51 Mbps.  Seems a little low as when I look at the bt account it says speed up to 67Mb.  I know I wont get that speed but 25.51 Mbps just seems a little low. I have listed some of the BT's smart hub specs below.

Connection status:

BT Broadband /
BT Infinity /
BT Infinity 3 and 4 :

BT Infinity

 Firmware version:

SG4B1000B540

 Firmware updated:

03-Jun-2018

 Serial number:

+084319+NQ62193797

 Downstream sync speed:

25.51 Mbps

 Upstream sync speed:

6.42 Mb

When I first had it it was about 45Mb but now at 25.51 just seems like a big drop.

Thanks.

Re: BT infinity 2

Initially you want to ( if not already done) check your line for noise from the master socket test port, using the test port eliminates any internal wiring , extension sockets etc ( BT and Openreach are not responsible for those things )....from the test port , preferably with a corded landline phone , dial 17070 and take the quiet line test option , listen , the line should be clear , any 'noise' report to your line rental provider as a noisy line.
If the line is clear , and if not already done, connect your router to the test port and check for any improvement.
The router stats posted are not the full router stats, try looking and posting the more comprehensive router stats, and using your phone number , post the estimated available speeds for your line at this site

Re: BT infinity 2

When you do the DSL checker, remove your number before posting but leave the exchange and cab number intact.

Re: BT infinity 2

Did the quiet test and the line is clear, the phone socket is a openreach mk 3 with the router wire above and a phone socket underneath so can't see the test port socket.   Had to plug the HH5 back in as I thought the smart hub was working alright, but after a couple of days it decided to start playing up,   connection had dropped to 17 Mbps and getting slower, and is currently 27.5 Mbps.   Also did a fix a fault on the BT website this morning and it said there is a problem so had to speak to bt who did some extra tests and came back to say there is a fault maybe on the master socket so will have to send an engineer out.   They said it wasn't the equipment as I have tested it already.   The router is plugged straight into the master socket so  it can't be the wiring from the master socket to the router.

Thanks.

Re: BT infinity 2

There is a test socket, but its situated behind the filtered faceplate. If you can test from that point, it would eliminate an issue with the NTE, as they can give problems.

The "real" test socket is the one to use.

I see @imjolly  has posted a similar picture.
